The world of the role-playing game Abyss is an endless ocean. Its surface is covered with a thick ice cover that protects it from cosmic threats. Roa – intelligent beings, whose representatives are played by Players – do not know that they are forever trapped under the icy dome of the moon Europa – one of Jupiter's satellites.
Due to the pressure difference, they are unable to swim high enough to learn the truth. Their technological level can be compared to the development of ancient Greece. They gather in tribes, develop their city-states stretched along the bottom, create monumental pyramids, perfecting the processing of stone. From the deepest depths, they discover the remains of the Firstborn, a civilization that fell as a result of numerous conflicts.
The decaying hieroglyphs from the decayed, overgrown ruins and broken tablets warn of war and destruction. Of hatred and killing, which instead of victory lead to destruction. The sages call for repentance, because the Roa have entered the same disastrous path…
